Adjusting is the art of reading the room and knowing who to assist and how. There is simply no single assist for any pose. There are always a number of options available and the right choice will depend on the body in front of you.
A good assist is not about pushing deeper into a forward fold, or pulling deeper into a backbend. It's about teaching a student something about a pose, rather than just stuffing them into it.

Discover how the subtlety of lifting the heels in dolphin, grounding the back foot in a humble warrior and giving a good poke in the ribs in, well, just about any pose we can think of, can help students understand the pose in a more meaningful way.
This is a 15 hour teacher training focusing on the art of physical adjustments.
Using the RB approach to strength and flexibility, the training will teach you how to read different bodies so you can assess an individual's strength and range of motion, select the right adjustment for the right person, and leave one-size-fits-all assists behind.

The training is divided into 5 sections

-
an introductory session exploring the philosophy and ethics of giving physical adjustments and explaining RB's methodology and approach to anatomy - including assessing strength and flexibility in asana
-
UP - a practical guide to assisting shoulder based poses, from foundational poses such as plank and down dog to arm balances, inversions and binds
-
DOWN - a practical guide to assisting hip based poses, from foundational poses such as chair and the warriors, to complex poses like bird of paradise, hanumanasana and king pigeon
-
FORWARDS - a practical guide to assisting forward folds, from foundational poses like uttanasana and prasarita to navasana, standing splits and presses
-
BACKWARDS - a practical guide to assisting back bends from foundational poses like salabhasana to wild thing to wheel to inverted backbends.

Each direction focused session includes practice time to try different assists on different bodies and a Q&A on what works and what doesn't.
